Insjöns Väveri

Insjöns Väveri was founded in 1947 by Ivar Hollstein in the small town Insjön in Dalarna, Sweden. Right next to highway 70 south of Leksand, he opened the factory that 75 years later still stands on the same site. Quality tablecloths, napkins and towels in linen and cotton are made here using traditional techniques, as close to handwoven as you can get with a machine.

In the old machinery, most things are the same as they used to be. The tireless looms, some of them nearly 100 years old, were far from new when the business started and are still weaving perfectly. Thanks to them, textiles can continue being produced exactly according to old handwoven originals.

Many of the designs have a centuries-old tradition. They are wonderful cultural treasures and a part of Swedish weaving history that the weavery maintain with great reverence. The patterns are made using traditional craft techniques and are descended from a time when woven fabrics were made to be washed, worn and inherited for generations. The result is high-density textiles with outstanding durability.

Since 2021, Insjöns Väveri is owned by Bookbinders Design. Both share a passion of quality, expert craftsmanship and textiles. This unique series consists of a selection of items created with the pattern Tällbergskrus – one of the oldest patterns produced at the weavery. The colours are specially designed for this particular collection, where modern minimalism for the home and desk meets traditional textile manufacturing of unbeatable quality.
